Parish Social Ministry

Parish Social Ministry is a program in many parishes and dioceses which works to increase understanding and action about Catholic Social Teaching and its application to works of charity and justice. The Parish Social Ministry section of Catholic Charities U.S.A. offers resources and training for parish social ministry and a membership section for sharing resources and best practices which includes a quarterly newsletter, Koinonia.

Resources for Parish Social Ministry in the archdiocese, such as parish presentations on Catholic Social Teaching and opportunities for implementation through local or national programs, are available through the Office Justice & Peace Ministries.

The themes of more than 100 years of Catholic Social Teaching include: Life and Dignity of the Human Person, Call to Family and Participation, Rights and Responsibilities, Option for the Poor and Vulnerable, the Dignity and Rights of Workers, Solidarity and Care for God’s Creation.
