Over 1800 People To Join Catholic Church in Atlanta Archdiocese on Sunday
Atlanta – Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory will preside at the Rite of Election and The Call to Continuing Conversion on Sunday, February 21, 2010, at the Atlanta Civic Center at 2:00 PM. Bishop Luis R. Zarama will assist as the Rite will be conducted in eleven languages, expressing the great cultural diversity of the Catholic Church in North and Central Georgia.
“We are looking forward to one of the most exciting celebrations of the Rite of Election in the history of the Archdiocese. So far, we have well over 1800 individuals who have responded, indicating that they will be joining the Catholic Church this year. This is the biggest group of new Catholics in Atlanta in any year on record. Also for the first time in many years, we will be bringing all of our Catholics-to-be together in one place for the Rite of Election,” said Reverend Theodore Book, Director of the Office for Divine Worship. “This solemn and joyful ceremony will represent the Catholicity of the Church - one Church embracing people from every land, people and nation.”
The media are invited to attend. For more information, contact Pat Chivers at pchivers@archatl.com or 678-480-6865.
