GRACE Scholars, Inc. Elects Two New Board Members

An Atlanta CPA and a Savannah anesthesiologist, both active Catholic laymen, were recently seated on the board of directors of GRACE Scholars, Inc., the student scholarship organization serving Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Atlanta and the Diocese of Atlanta, David Brown, director of GRACE Scholars announced.

G. Bliss Jones is a shareholder in Jones Kolb, one of Atlanta’s largest and most respected certified public accounting (CPA) firms. He has a wealth of experience in accounting, particularly in the not-for-profit sector. Jones currently serves on the Not-For-Profit Organization Audit and Accounting Guide Task Force which makes recommendations to the Office of Management and Budget and was recently invited to serve on the planning committee for American Institute of CPAs’ not-for-profit industry conference. Jones is active in St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Sandy Springs. He and his wife have three daughters who have attended St. Jude the Apostle Catholic School and Marist School.

Dr. Gerrard Macleod is a board-certified anesthesiologist on the staff of Candler Hospital in Savannah. Prior to his affiliation with Candler, MacLeod was associated with Walton Medical Center in Monroe, Ga., where he held several leadership positions while on staff. For the past two years, MacLeod headed GRACE Scholars fundraising efforts at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School in Savannah. MacLeod has made numerous mission trips to under-resourced countries. He and his wife are the parents of five daughters.

“We are excited,” said Brown, “to have both Bliss Jones and Dr. Gerrard MacLeod as the newest board members of GRACE Scholars. Their commitment to the Catholic church, the education of our children in conjunction with their professional experiences, will strengthen our already diverse and dynamic board.”

GRACE Scholars, Inc. is the only student scholarship organization founded by Archbishop Wilton Gregory of Atlanta and Bishop Kevin Boland of Savannah. GRACE Scholars provides children from families with financial needs throughout the state of Georgia with greater opportunities to secure a quality PreK-12 Catholic education. As an SSO, GRACE is eligible to received donations approved by the State of Georgia as education expense tax credits.
