Victims' Assistance

One of the most important functions of the Office of Child and Youth Protection is to offer assistance to victims of sexual abuse by Church personnel in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. The Office offers counseling referrals, spiritual guidance, and referrals to spiritual directors.

Our actions must also be responsive; responsive to victims of abuse. It is a sad truth that in the past, many victims were not heard or were made to feel that they had done something wrong by bringing their abuse out in the open. You have my assurance that this archdiocese is committed to ensuring that all victims of abuse are offered compassionate outreach and pastoral care.

- Archbishop-emeritus John F. Donoghue
