The 37th annual Ecumenical Good Friday Pilgrimage (Urban Way of the Cross) sponsored by the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Office of Justice & Peace Ministries is scheduled for Friday, April 14th from 9am to 12:00pm.  The pilgrimage will begin at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, located at 48 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, SW, Atlanta, Georgia 30303.  We will gather at 8:45am and begin our journey at 9am. We will conclude at approximately 12:00pm at the King Center with a reflection and closing prayer.  Buses will be available to return participants to our start point.

Our morning will begin with an opening reflection by Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory and then we will begin a contemplative and reflective 2 mile walking prayer that will challenge people to see those on the margins whom we so very often ignore or fail to see.  Each of the 14 stops along the way will provide an insightful reflection on a segment of our population right here in the greater Atlanta area that suffers from injustice and relegation to the shadows.  We will end with a reflection on building the Kingdom here on earth by making the decision to do something about those we learn of along the journey that day.

A break is scheduled at the halfway point.  Please bring your own water bottle as water will be provided at the break.  The walk is wheelchair/stroller accessible, with some uneven sidewalks along the way.

Please contact Kat Doyle, Director of Justice & Peace Ministries, at kdoyle@archatl.com for more information or to volunteer.  ALL are welcome.
