The 41st annual Ecumenical Good Friday Pilgrimage (Urban Way of the Cross), sponsored by the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Justice and Peace Ministries, will take place on Good Friday, April 7, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This walking prayer is a moving experience that includes scripture readings, reflections, prayer and music as we remember the passion of Christ and the social injustices in our world today. This year we will specifically focus on answering the call to be Christ’s hands and feet in this world.

The pilgrimage will begin at the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, located at 48 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, SW, Atlanta, Georgia 30303. We will gather at 8:45 a.m. and begin our journey with an opening prayer and reflection at 9 a.m. We will conclude at approximately 12 p.m. with a reflection and closing prayer. Buses will be available to return participants to our start point. Participants are encouraged to carpool or use public transportation as parking is limited. The two-mile route is considered wheelchair accessible, but please keep in mind that not all of the sidewalks along the route are smooth or wide.

Please contact me at kdoyle@archatl.com for more information or to volunteer to be a reader, cross bearer or cantor. All are welcome!
