Pope Francis has called upon the Church to rejuvenate her synodal roots. He has opened a two-year synodal process which he hopes will reframe and renew our common journey forward. First and foremost, the Synod is a call to pray, listen, and discern together what the Holy Spirit is saying to the Church today—all for the sake of the Church’s evangelizing mission.

Each parish and school has been asked to host prayer-centered local listening sessions. Two representatives from each parish, school or lay apostolate should attend a regional listening session. Parishes should attend the session in their deanery, but can request to attend a different one as needed. Email synod@archatl.com to make arrangements to go to a regional meeting out of your deanery. As space allows, individuals may also attend these sessions. Everyone must register in order to attend. The registration link is TBD, but will be added to this calendar entry as these reservations are open. Representatives from the archdiocesan synod team will also be on hand.

A key question to help focus this process is this: A synodal Church, in announcing the Gospel, “journeys together.” How is this “journeying together” happening today in your local Church? What steps does the Spirit invite us to take to grow in “journeying together”?
