A Church That Reflects the World
The Archdiocese of Atlanta joyfully embraces the rich cultural and ethnic diversity of our Catholic community. We honor the unique traditions, languages and spiritual expressions that reflect the universal nature of the church.
The Office of Intercultural Ministry serves the archdiocese by promoting and developing cultural awareness. This enables our church to better understand and answer the pastoral needs of our ever-growing diverse Catholic population throughout north and central Georgia.
The office consists of two ministries – Black Catholic Ministry and Hispanic and Latino Ministry. Both share the unique gifts of the cultures they represent and promote programs and initiatives that celebrate these cultures through the lens of Catholic tradition.
Our goal is to create a “culture of encounter,” where everyone can feel welcomed, loved forgiven and encouraged to live according to the Gospel.
How We Serve Our Cultural Communities
- Pastoral Support: Helping parishes consider the pastoral needs of their diverse community, including cultural uniqueness, sensitivities and native language.

- Formation and Leadership Resources: Providing resources, workshops and leadership training tailored to the needs of multicultural communities.
- Build Unity Through Community: Encouraging intercultural understanding and collaboration across ministries, parishes and diocesan offices.
The work of the Office of Intercultural Ministries is supported by donations to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal.
