Building the Church Together
The Archdiocese of Atlanta continues to faithfully discern ways to respond to the spiritual, pastoral and social needs of our Catholic community.
Through our pastoral initiatives, we aim to unify our commitment to sacramental life, pastoral care and life-long formation in the Catholic faith.
Whether through prayer, volunteering or parish leadership, your participation in our pastoral initiatives strengthens the mission of the church in our archdiocese.
Capital Campaign
Rooted in Christ – Growing in Faith is a capital campaign that began in 2026 to help meet the needs of our growing Catholic presence in north and central Georgia.
Funding priorities fall into three categories – investing in parish and clergy, forming missionary disciples and uplifting vulnerable neighbors. For more information and to make a donation, contact the Office of Mission Advancement.
Learn MoreSynod on Synodality
The synod is a call to pray, listen and discern together what the Holy Spirit is saying to the church today – for the sake of the church’s evangelizing mission.
In 2021, Pope Francis opened a multi-year synodal process to renew our common journey forward. This began the 2021-2024 synod, “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission.”
The archdiocesan bishops and synod team continue to meet to discern how to best support what next steps the Holy Spirit may be calling for the church in north and central Georgia.

Learn MoreEucharistic Congress
The Atlanta Eucharistic Congress began on the Feast of Corpus Christi in 1996 as a “Eucharistic Renewal” to promote understanding of the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
The interest in Eucharistic Adoration continued to spread over the years, outgrowing the first event at Holy Spirit Church and moving to the Georgia International Convention Center in 2001.
In recent years, the USCCB called for a Eucharistic Revival, culminating in a national Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis. Local parishes joined the effort with outdoor processions, music and speakers preaching on the Eucharist.
