The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is the Catholic Church’s domestic anti-poverty, social justice program established by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) in 1969. Its mission is to address the root causes of poverty in America through promotion and support of community-controlled self-help organizations and through transformative education.

Organizations and programs that embody this mission receive grants funded by the annual CCHD Second Collection each November. Of the funds collected in each (arch)diocese, 75% go toward national grants, administered by the USCCB, while 25% remain in the local church to be allocated at the discretion of the (arch)bishop.

The Archdiocese of Atlanta uses its local funds to award grants under three categories:

• Community Grants,
• Parish Project Grants
• Parish Education/Awareness Grants
