Atlanta Catholics Find Strength Praying Centuries-Old Liturgy of the Hours

Kimi Nettuno sits in prayer in the empty sanctuary at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Alpharetta. She prays the Liturgy of the Hours daily, and along with being a spiritual director at the Ignatius House Jesuit Retreat Center, she is a teacher for deacon candidates in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Many local Catholics draw strength from the prayer practice

ATLANTA—Mary Mead used to open her daily prayer ritual tucked away in her school office before the first bell. As an assistant principal in a North Carolina public school, she treasured the moments before students arrived.
