John Price

Background

I grew up in Johns Creek, Georgia, and I am the oldest of two kids. I have a brother a year and a half younger than me. My family and I are very close and try to spend a lot of time together. My brother and I grew up doing everything outside. Tons of sports, fishing with our dad and playing in the neighborhood. I was very blessed to have such a happy childhood.

Hobbies and Interests

I love anything outside. I love to play sports, especially golf. I also really enjoy fishing. If I’m not doing any of those things you will probably catch me watching the Andy Griffith show with my dad or taking a walk with my mom.

Favorite Scripture

One of my favorite scriptures is Luke 15, the story of the Prodigal Son. It just shows the particular way in which the Lord loves us as our Father.

Favorite Saint

My favorite saint is St. Therese of Liseux. We have struggled with some of the same things and the ways she dealt with it have helped me a lot. She has such a valuable outlook on the Lord’s merciful love. I also have a great devotion to Our Lady, she is such a vital part of the spiritual life and brings us very close to our Lord.

Another one I love is St. Joseph. He is a very good example of how to be a good father and a humble, hardworking man.

Vocation Story

I had thought about it at a young age but didn’t feel super attracted until around my freshman year of high school. After the Lord invited me to do something for him my senior year, I discerned that he was calling me to the seminary.

Seminary Experience

Well, I just started, but I love it so far! The community is awesome and it is very centered on prayer.

What I am looking forward to when I become a Priest.

Celebrating all the sacraments! Particularly the sacrament of reconciliation. To be able to be In Persona Christi and help be an instrument of the Lord’s love and mercy is something I very much look forward to.

Advice for other Discerning the Priesthood.

I would say just keep praying and keep taking the next step. If you are attentive to where the Lord is leading you, you can’t go wrong.
