Making an Act of Spiritual Communion
See Bishop Konzen’s video message on making an act of spiritual communion.
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
Other Prayers That May be Used (among others):
From the Manual of Indulgences, pp 51-52:
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who, using any duly approved pious formula, make 1) an act of spiritual communion; 2) an act of thanksgiving after Communion (e.g. Anima Christi; En ego, O bone et dulcissime lesu).
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within thy wounds, hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from thee.
From the malicious enemy defend me.
In the house of my death call me.
And bid me come to thee,
That with thy saints I may praise thee
for ever and ever.
En ego, O bone et dulcissime lesu
Behold, O kind and most sweet Jesus, I cast myself upon my knees in thy sight, and with the most fervent desire of my soul, I pray and beseech thee that thou wouldst impress upon my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope, and charity, with true contrition for my sins and a firm purpose of amendment; while with deep affection and grief of soul I ponder within myself and mentally contemplate they five wounds, having before my eyes the words which David the prophet put on thy lips.

Spiritual Communion Formula
By a rescript of November 24, 1922, the Sacred Congregation of Indulgences approved the following formula for a spiritual communion:
“O Jesus I turn toward the holy tabernacle where You live hidden for love of me. I love you, O my God. I cannot receive you in Holy Communion. Come nevertheless and visit me with Your grace. Come spiritually into my heart. Purify it. Sanctify it. Render it like unto Your own. Amen
Lord, I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
It was the Cure of Ars who said, “A spiritual communion acts in the soul as blowing does on a cinder – covered fire which is about to go out. Whenever you feel your love of God growing cold, quickly make a spiritual communion.”
