University of Dayton VLCFF Certification Programs

The Office of Formation and Discipleship of the Archdiocese of Atlanta has entered into a relationship with the University of Dayton, a highly respected Catholic university, and the Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation (VLCFF) to provide an opportunity for certification by enrolling in one of three VLCFF specific programs.

Certificate in Adult Formation Leadership

The Certificate in Adult Formation Leadership Program (AFL) is designed for adults in parish or diocesan ministry wishing to design, implement and facilitate adult learning and faith formation as Adult Faith Formation leaders / coordinators / catechists / facilitators in parishes or dioceses.  This program requires about one and a quarter years to complete.

Certificate in Catechesis

A program consisting of twelve courses, on two levels, that focuses on a broad base approach to Catholic religious education, suitable for all areas of catechetical formation. The program requires approximately two years to complete.

Certificate in Youth Ministry

A program consisting of eight courses that focuses on Catholic youth ministry. The program is ideal for a catechist interested in a focus on youth or a parish youth minister. The program requires about one and a quarter years to complete.

The Archdiocese of Atlanta (AoA) is a partner diocese with VLCFF. This affiliation provides a reduced 50% tuition incentive for all students from AoA who enroll in VLCFF courses or programs. To further encourage and support parish leaders to achieve advanced certificate status in Catechesis and Youth Ministry, the Office of Formation & Discipleship offers an additional tuition incentive to further reduce the cost to the student.
