WINDER—Jeff Carr faces another 1,100 miles, with more than 1,000 miles completed. He is hiking the Appalachian Trail, from Georgia to Maine, to raise money to drill a water well in Nicaragua. Having started in mid-April, Carr expects the journey up the spine of the East Coast to last 18 weeks.
