In order to address the needs of the Catholic LGBTQ+ community in a manner that is reflective of the pastoral vision of the Archdiocese of Atlanta and aligned with the gospel, Restorative Justice Ministry in the Office of Life, Dignity and Justice is establishing an advisory commission dedicated to better understanding the realities and pastoral needs of LGBTQ+ Catholics in the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
Advisory Commission
The LGBTQ+ Pastoral Affairs Commission is made up of a diverse group of clergy and lay leaders whose important insights and experiences help guide the archdiocese’s pastoral accompaniment of the LGBTQ+ community.
Our Goals
- Listen to and better understand the experiences of LGBTQ+ Catholics in our parishes, schools and communities.
- Learn the pastoral needs of the LGBTQ+ Catholic community.
- Work with clergy to understand their needs in accompanying this community with a compassionate and coherent pastoral model.
- Discern what ministerial resources are most beneficial and reflective of the archbishop’s pastoral vision for accompanying the LGBTQ+ community, ministers and families.
